It’s time to “Lighten UP”, Calgary!
There’s only three weeks until Christmas, and our beloved city is already starting to shine brightly for the holidays with dazzling light displays such as the Noël Christmas Festival and ZOOLIGHTS. However, you don’t necessarily need to go to a ticketed event to see wonderful light displays — in fact, some of the best light displays can be found scattered throughout Calgary in the form of decorated residential houses! These can be hard to find, so that’s why a group created Lighten UP Calgary, a website that maps out the locations of the most impressive festively-decorated homes in the city.
Using this curated resource, you can easily find incredible residential Christmas light displays in and around your area. The website sorts the lit-up homes into various location-based groupings such as Calgary NW, Calgary NE, Calgary SW, and Calgary SE, and you can see it all laid out with their 2020 Christmas map which is updated on a regular basis (to get your home on the map, simply submit it via a form on their website).
Viewing the festive Christmas lights and decorations at these local light displays is completely free and family-friendly; however, it is asked that visitors practice physical distancing this year and stay in their cars wherever possible.
