ZOOLIGHTS To Illuminate The Calgary Zoo With Over 2 Million Sparkling Lights

By Gabriel Nunes November 4, 2020

This year’s ZOOLIGHTS will be bigger and brighter than ever before.

The most wonderful time of the year is on its way, and that means wonderful light displays are coming too! There’ll be many to choose from, but there’s a festive holiday experience that you just can’t miss: ZOOLIGHTS presented by Olympia Trust Company. Held at the Calgary Zoo, this popular light celebration is a magical, family-oriented tradition that features over two million twinkling lights, including 200+ light figurines and interactive and choreographed light displays.

Back for its 24th year, this award-winning festive event will be around for six weeks between November 20, 2020, and January 3, 2021. This year’s ZOOLIGHTS will feature more mesmerizing light exhibits than ever before, including the majestic Polar Wonderland, the cultural Journey to Wechiau, and the Enchanted Gardens in the ENMAX Conservatory. In addition, classic activities from previous years will return such as the skating rink, fire pits, Rival Axe Throwing, Lovers’ Lane, and Santa’s Cabin (social distance-style, of course).

Tickets are now on sale and entry between 5 pm and 9 pm will be staggered in 30-minute intervals to ensure visitor safety. General admission prices are $19.95 for adults (16+) and $14.95 for children (3–15). You’ll have to buy tickets in advance as tickets will not be sold onsite, and they are available on a first-come, first-served basis.

A visit to these luminous displays at the zoo is a memorable way to enjoy the magic of the holiday season in a safe and physically-distanced way right in the heart of Calgary.
