A brand new Life Chronicles experience is coming to Calgary this summer, transporting you 3.5 billions of years back in time to the beginning of Earth’s history as we know it. The fascinating adventure takes you through the major evolutionary phases, starting with the Archean period, where life first came into being.

What is Life Chronicles in Calgary?
Simply put: it’s a breathtaking adventure through the different stages of evolution. As soon as you don your VR headset, you’ll be transported to where life began. The ozone layer forms, oxygen fills the atmosphere, microbes grow and multiply… while these things now seem insignificant, you’ll see how they marked a pivotal moment in Earth’s history. Virtual researcher Charlie and her robot Darwin will be your guides during this VR experience, taking you through the other phases of evolution to witness much bigger creatures.
Among the lush forest, giant insects and jaw-droppingly huge millipedes, is an imposing T-Rex. But it won’t be the only creature to get your heart racing at Life Chronicles. Giant marine reptiles from the prehistoric periods will also come to say hello, from species larger than blue whales to miniscule shrimp-like creatures.
During 45 captivating minutes, you’ll explore the Archean, Cambrian and Cretaceous eras, journeying through billions of years of history.

Life Chronicles has been created in collaboration with the Muséum national d’Histoire naturelle in France, an establishment that stands as a reference in the historical field. The Museum’s paleontologists, paleobotanists, evolution specialists and bioacousticians captured the beauty of the Earth through script writing, 3D production and the making of graphics and sounds.
The VR experience is a “dreamlike, sensitive and sometimes humorous immersion into the living world” built on years of scientific analysis.
