Canada Travel Restrictions Open Border For Vaccinated Tourists

The travel restrictions concerning tourists came out on Tuesday September 7th.

Canada has been implementing new travel restrictions since July and this week is no different. While the government lifted quarantine for fully vaccinated Canadians entering the country as of July 5th, it did not do the same for foreign nationals until much later.

On August 9, Canada announced that fully vaccinated American citizens can enter the country. And as of Tuesday, all foreign nationals can now visit for non-essential reasons, only if they are fully vaccinated. Canada still recognizes the same vaccines as in previous guidelines. Those vaccines include: Pfizer, Moderna, J&J, and AstraZeneca. And a person is considered fully vaccinated 14 days after they received the full dose (i.e. 14 days after their second dose of a 2-dose vaccine). Travellers must also present a negative Covid-19 test result before entering. All travellers must also fill out their information in the ArriveCAN app before their departure to Canada.

Those who have long Covid-19 have different guidelines which you can find here.

Travellers who meet all these requirements can visit Canada and skip the 14-day quarantine and day-8 test. Unvaccinated children between 12 and 17 will have to follow all testing and quarantine requirements even if they are accompanied by vaccinated adults.

As travel restrictions in Canada continue to evolve, you can find all the detailed information at the government website here.
