It’s Pride season in Calgary! And this long weekend is full of events and celebration.
Calgary Pride is coming up and we are here for all this celebratory goodness.
This year’s Calgary Pride Parade and Festival is a free event organized with everyone’s safety in mind. It will be both in person and live-streamed virtually from the B!G ART Drive-In at TELUS Spark. It is a 10-day festival from August 16 to September 5. Some of the events include cult classic showings like Heathers, a folk show, the annual Pride Float, and much more. The Pride Float event will be on Friday from 4:30pm to 9pm. This event offers floats to guests who can deck them out in all their Pride gear and take them out onto the river. Some virtual events include a panel series titled #ProudPartners on allyship.
You can check out their full schedule of events at their website here! The tickets are free or by donation.
Another exciting batch of Pride events are those Werk YYC has in store for this Pride weekend. Firstly, they start the weekend with a kickoff celebration on Friday with headliners Aquaria and Symone and host Tynomi Banks. Secondly, Saturday will be Drag Brunch Day, from 11am to 3pm. Terri Stevens will be the host this event, with headliners Tynomi Banks and Vancouver queen Synthia Kiss. Finally, Sunday will see a High Tea Dance Party because that’s exactly what we need to close off Pride weekend! Justin Mulrain will host this event, with headliner Synthia Kiss.
